How Meditation Changed My Life

Have you ever wondered why meditation is good for your and your health? Did that question send you looking for answers? If so, you probably found that it’s good for stress reduction, focus, even weight loss.

But did you also know that it’s good for managing grief and other traumatic events? I discovered that one first hand. In fact, it’s how I came to teach myself to meditate before I even knew what meditation was.

Meditation and Grief

A while back I was asked the question of how meditation changed my life. It’s kind of a funny thing to think about because sometimes, you get to a point when you’ve done something for so long that you just do it and don’t think much about how you started. But, I think it’s good to take time and reflect on parts of your life that mean a lot to you and define part of who you are. I actually shared the answer to the question on my Periscope channel, but thought it might be helpful to share here, too.

Meditation as Self-Care

Self-care is so important for us as parents. We get so caught up in all of the things we need to do for others that we sometimes lose touch with our own needs. Without taking care of ourselves, our loved ones, employers or customers don’t get our very best. That’s why I’m a big proponent of meditation, or what I call Daily Mind Gym, which a less than 10 minute daily practice that includes traditional meditation as well as other techniques for stress management. Meditation doesn’t have to be complicated or take a long time.

Beginner Meditation

Just taking a few minutes to check in with yourself every day can make a huge difference in how you get through your day and how you feel about it at the end of the day.
